We make vegetable-tanned leather goods by hand in our Bogotá workshop. They darken and soften as you use them, and they look best after a few years. We focus on two things: Arwaks loafers made to your size, and personalized leather journals.

Why vegetable leather

It gets better with age

Vegetable-tanned leather is tanned with plant tannins, not chrome. Sunlight, hand oils and use darken it slowly, from pale tan to deep honey. Move the slider to see how a cover changes.

Our story

A father, a son and a workshop in Bogotá

1975

José Linares Sr. opens Ses in Bogotá, making bags, notebooks, shoes, jackets, belts and wallets.

1986

Ses opens a showroom in New York City.

2018

José Linares Jr. brings Ses to Etsy, and orders start shipping worldwide.

Today

The father designs and makes. The son runs the shop and talks to customers.

“El cuero vive” is a Spanish expression. It means “the leather lives.” My father has said it for more than forty years, because the leather he uses keeps changing after it leaves the workshop. Like a good wine, it gets better with age.

Since 1975, every Ses product has been made by hand in Colombia with Colombian materials. We make each piece to order, so nothing sits in a warehouse, and we can adjust a size, a colour or an embossed name for you.

We used to make dozens of products. Now we put all our time into the two that customers love most: Arwaks loafers and leather journals. If you want something else in leather, write to us. We still take custom orders.
